NREL's Site Operations Group keeps the laboratory running by providing facility management and support. The Site Operations team has openings for Facilities Technicians. The focus of the work of the Facilities Technician is to keep campus facilities up and running efficiently. This work often includes fixing fans, pumps, compressors, refrigeration systems (including charging, evacuating, and repairing), plumbing, and various forms of piping.
Perform and direct preventive maintenance on facility systems
Perform installation and repairs on facility systems
Guide and inspect outside contractors' work
Establish monthly and annual preventive maintenance schedules
Perform on-call projects
Follow all ES&H policies and procedures to ensure and maintain safe working environment
Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope in construction, mechanical or electrical technology or a related degree and 1 or more years of experience in facilities.

Trouble shooting capability
Lift over 70 pounds on a routine basis
Have (or be able to obtain) and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Annual Salary Range: $46,600 - $74,600
NREL takes into consideration a candidate's education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
