This Role oversees means and timeliness of the construction of Tesla's Supercharger projects across North America, including oversight of the Tesla team, contractor base, project deliverables, pricing negotiations, and general mentorship. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on and high-level experience managing construction crews and project managers, has had broad and deep involvement with infrastructure projects, demonstrates clear-headed problem solving, and has the skills to work collaboratively with both internal business units and external vendors and stakeholders. This Role is imperative in ensuring the Supercharger Deployment feedback loop is complete, such that feedback from Tesla's Construction Managers and Contractors makes its way into future site and product designs. This role has a growth mindset, realizing that Tesla's construction systems and processes must be ready for doubling and quadrupling the construction teams and project volumes. Above all this role enables all Tesla construction employees to deliver at and above expected levels of volume, quality, and cost-effectiveness and watched the data to identify and remedy trouble spots in those regards. Set the strategy and baseline requirements for all construction processes with an eye toward scaling and efficiency. Ensure requirements are adhered to on all Tesla projects. Monitor and Oversee the key outputs from each North America region and each North America employee. Deep dive trouble regions and coach employees who require extra training and mentoring. Travel to regions as needed to collect ground level feedback and maintain super close relationships with construction team members, while discovering and remedying opportunities for improvement. Serve as single point of contact for the continent-wide construction effort making programmatic decisions and relaying best practices between sub-regions. Facilitate and drive communication and construction related best-practice sharing across various North American regions, each with unique constraints and regional teams of engineers and construction managers. Work closely with Tesla product engineering and the Tesla site design department to ensure a design-for-construction mentality. This extends to other departments such as procurement, legal, finance, etc. Refine and optimize estimating and should-costing methods for North America. Participate in and/or lead creation and maintenance of a continent-wide source of truth for all deployment related processes, products, and practices. Establish a Supercharger Pay Item Index to assist with unit price bidding. Determine a way to establish expected unit pricing per region to assist in cost estimating. 5-15 years' experience in construction, program management, or infrastructure rollouts Desirable: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, Civil Engineering, business, other analytical or operational focus, or equivalent Experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable but not required Experience in product/component design and release is desirable but not required Superb organizational skills with strong multi-tasking abilities Impeccable communication skills, both writing and speaking - ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of individuals Experience and proven ability to operate and thrive within matrix management structures Highly structured individual with affinity for productivity and project management support tools 50% travel based on business needs Highly energetic personality with an ability to function autonomously in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
