We are looking for passionate candidates, with data center development experience with an emphasis on construction project management. This role is ideal for someone who loves construction as much as they love contributing to delivery of sensitive compartmented information facilities. Being close to both general contractors and the and our trade partners, you are in a unique position to deliver the secure facilities that empower Microsoft's sovereign cloud and directly influence the construction project's success.
The role of the Project Manager requires strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, ability to self-direct, strong background in data center design, engineering, controls, and operational requirements and an emphasis on project/construction management, datacenter lease market experience, client representation and project and project level services
The Data Center Development (DCD) Construction Project Manager is ultimately responsible for the complete project delivery for each site location. The DCD Construction Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that each project meets the Data Center Development (DCD) Guidelines and standards, which may be adjusted from time-to-time based on best practices and Lesson Learned drawn from previous projects as well as industry changing best practice.
The DCD Construction Project Manager will coordinate with the Data Center Engineering (DCE) team and supporting specialty consultants to update and provide feedback based on Basis of Design (BOD). In managing the delivery of projects, this position aligns team objectives, business processes, vendor management strategies, and cross-group collaboration efforts with the Data Center Development Project Strategy. In doing so this will result in effective client relationship management and efficiency in cost management and project/project delivery
The DCD Construction Project Manager will be a relentless advocate for managing a safe worksite. Safety is one of the four pillars of CO+I's mission in delivering cloud capacity; joined by Quality, Schedule adherence, and Cost Management. The DCD PM will also collaborate with Microsoft Security, Microsoft Digital (Microsoft IT), Legal, Project Engineering, MS Business Risk Management, and other internal groups to maintain the corporate vision and goals for the Project.
In addition, this position will be responsible for coordinating and reviewing vendor performance relative to cash flow and budget summaries and will clarify those reports in presentations to the delivery and executive chain. Other responsibilities include oversight and project controls Project Expenditure Request (PERs), Professional Services Request (PSRs), Change Orders, Pay Applications, etc. . Additional roles include MS partner engagement, as well as participation in communications plans, and community involvement with support from Data Center Operations (DCOPs), Real Estate Services, Data Center Services, and Corporate Communications teams.
The DCD Construction Project Manager works directly for the Regional Manager of Data Center Development for the region where the data center development is located and supports the strategic and tactical delivery of data center projects in the region.

+ Create and maintain best practices to identify and incorporate cost-effective solutions
+ Manage the selection, contracting, and integration of multiple vendors and internal partners
+ Drive deployment of solutions that can be socialized globally across air-gapped cloud DCD projects
+ Facilitate decision-making to drive solutions, schedules, and manage change as required
+ Apply influence, strategies, and negotiation skills to identify options and recommend solutions
+ Regularly reviews cost and KPI metrics, invoices, process/policy communications to client partners
+ Provide project single point of contact for project development and delivery
+ Coordinate meetings and activities of vendors, cost managers, and integration of lessons learned
+ Attend scheduled owner/architect/contractor (OAC) and other project meetings, and report as necessaryReport Project Progress on scope, schedule, and budget weekly or as required
+ Provide weekly project status reporting to DCD standards
+ Responsible for developing, managing, and reporting on safety, scope, schedule, and budget
+ Direct fiscal responsibility for the approved project budget
+ Work independently in support of the DCD Project
Vendor Management and Contract Compliance:
+ Provide on-site management of Construction Management At-Risk suppliers
+ Provide Owner Furnished Contractor installed (OFCI) supplier oversight and performance management
+ Preparation of Request for Proposal (RFP's), PER's, and other project approval tools & templates
+ Review and approval of vendor scope of work, and design review of site and building plans
+ Validate vendor pay-application and invoice review and approval
+ Manage compliance with prior audit results and recommendations.
+ 5+ years of experience with construction management of facilities adhering to IC Tech Spec - for ICD/ICS 705technical specifications for Construction and Management of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities.
+ Must be a United States Citizen
+ Degrees and/or professional licenses in Construction Management or Electrical/Mechanical Engineeringor 10 years of previous applicable experience.
+ 5+ years of progressive responsibility in development of Mission Critical Facilities or large-scale industrial applications inclusive of Defense, Energy Production, or Chemical Production.
+ 5+ years of experience with managing a construction site related to Occupational Health & Safety standards
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Project Management, or Construction Management.
+ 5+ yrs. experience of data center project construction with large-scale data centers or DC lease providers.
+ U.S. Top Secret clearance or the ability to obtain
+ Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
+ Strong verbal and written communication Skills
+ Experience managing large multi-faceted construction projects above +$50 million.
+ Ability to independently manage deadlines and support construction management disciplined subject matter expert staffing
+ Capability to influence cross-discipline teams in a cross-functional matrix environment
